In Japanese folklore, it is said that Fate connects a pair of lovers by means of a red thread tied around their pinky fingers. With this in mind, and inspired by my Autumn Leaf Band, *yumeru asked me to make a pair of silver bands with red ribbon inlay for her and her boyfriend.

Fine silver and synthetic ribbon, sizes 5 and 6 3/4.

As with my beetle shell inlaid bands, I started with a piece of silver sheet stock and bent the edges up to create a groove down the middle. The ribbon was wrapped a few times around the ring band, then I melted the end of the ribbon to keep it from fraying and adhered it tightly to itself with a dab of epoxy. When that was cured, I hammered down the walls on either side of the ribbon, forming a continuous bezel-style setting to hold the ribbon permanently in place.
