Here is another piece made in the same way as my Bug, except the initial piece of metal was 4 X 6 inches. This one predates the Bug by about a year, and was an assignment for an introductory metals class. Originally it was to be a free standing oil burner, but at that time I was unfamiliar with how to sink metal into vessels and was not able to make the basin very deep. I converted it into a wall sconce instead, and it is used to burn tealight candles and sometimes incense.
An interesting piece. Allthough most of your gallery is interesting. I will have to take a better look.
